Look: 70s Vibes

Sometimes I come across a piece that just speaks to me and gives me good vibes– this suede and faux fur jacket from Zara did exactly that.

I was recently at my parents’ house and my dad had dug out an old photo from when they were first married, back in 1975, and had gone on a ski trip.  In the photo, my dad was wearing a classic 1970s tan suede and shearling jacket with aviators, riding a snowmobile.  My sister and I commented that his jacket was JUST TOO PERFECT…and lo and behold, fast forward to me breezing through Zara the next day…there was this perfect little 70s inspired jacket, just like the one my dad had on in the picture.

When I find a piece like this that I just fall in love with, I usually build an outfit around it– which is what I ended up wearing for brunch in the city for my friend’s birthday yesterday.  The dress is also from Zara, and had embroidered flowers around the neckline and down the back; perfectly in sync with the jacket.  I paired it with a gold and pearl choker (post to come soon on my obsession with these!) my favorite Vince booties to keep the look modern and edgy, and my favorite Gucci crossbody bag– the fact that it’s called the “disco” bag and has a fringe tassel made this addition a no-brainer.

A closer look at the individual pieces:

Hope this inspires you to build a look around a special piece!

Christine

Really like your style. This coat looks so warm. Like how you paired it with a classy black bag and black outfit. These pieces together add so much interest around each piece individually. Very nice. Also, enjoyed reading your post about how your dad inspired your outfit. So sweet. Hope you have a great week.
