Gold Satin Slipdress: Missguided | Grey “Super” tee: Sincerely Jules |Sneaks: Stan Smiths

This weekend, Tim and I took Nolan upstate to our old college- The University at Albany (or for you New Yorkers, SUNY Albany!).  We were out and about all day, from brunch, to touring campus, and meeting up with some of Tim’s old Fraternity brothers…so this is what I wore to keep comfy, but still feel “dressed”.  I layered my current fave little grey tee, the “Super” t-shirt by Sincerely Jules, under this gold satin slipdress from ASOS— again, I love the contrast of the “sexy”, “night time” material of the satin dress with the casual tomboyish slouchy grey tee.  I paired this look with simple white Stan Smiths and my black Saint Laurent Betty– and did a crown or milkmaid braid in my hair to keep it out of the way (but really just didn’t feel like washing it lol).  This is such an easy look to recreate– this will def be on major repeat this fall and winter! Try and pick up a few different slipdresses, maybe in satin, velvet, a print and a solid, and try experimenting with your fave old tee shirts under them! Happy Fall!

My NYFW Looks: September 2016

Whoa, so having a baby and working full time as a teacher does NOT make it easy to find time to keep up with my blog– if I didn’t love fashion as much as I do, it would definitely be way too easy to let it slide…so when NYFW time rolled around this year, I knew I wanted to push myself to make it work.  Unfortunately, September Fashion Week in New York always coincides with the first week of school, and being a teacher, this is obviously a crazy time of year.  It ain’t easy adjusting from sleeping in and doing whatever you want all summer, to organizing and ready-ing a classroom and switching over your brain to “adult” mode! Anyway, I knew that I was going to be able to go to Fashion Week shows and events last weekend, and forego any weekday/weeknight activities because of school– and now that Nolan is here (remember last Fashion Week, when I was 7 months pregnant!?), I also didn’t want to miss too much time away from him (hence why I ended up bringing him with me on Sunday’s adventures!).  So here’s what I wore– (click links to shop my looks!)

Styling Fall Looks with Madewell

Last weekend I had the pleasure of working with one of my favorite brands, Madewell, to style some looks from the fall collection, help shoppers put together outfits, and make my Fall picks (super hard– literally loved everything!) at their store located in the Walt Whitman Mall on Long Island.  They even gave an extra special discount to any of my fellow teachers who came in to shop with me that day!  Drinks, snacks, shopping and styling (and taking 948404 pics along the way of course!) — what could be better on a Saturday afternoon at the end of summer?
The fall collection is full of all those perfect fall shades– rust and mustard being two of my absolute faves.  Madewell is always my go-to for sweaters in the fall and winter; they’re super well-made (haha get it?!) and always have the perfect slouchy-femme look.  Madewell is also a fave spot of mine to score overalls, both short and long, again, because of quality, fit and the modern-vintage wash.  This was the first time I actually tried on and purchased a pair of jeans from Madewell– being a petite 5’2, it can be hard to find jeans that fit– but their 9″ rise black ripped skinnies FIT PERFECTLY and even had a raw hem that I can cuff or even trim myself to show off shoes.  Below, shop my exact look, plus my picks from the fall collection– already purchased the jeans, suede heels, overalls and mustard sweater!
