My Six Picks: White Booties

screen-shot-2017-01-29-at-4-51-05-pm
I just picked up this pair of crisp white booties from the Zara sale, and while sadly, they’re sold out, I’ve compiled six of the best pairs of white booties out there right now, in varying price ranges.  White booties are simple, yet statement making– there’s something about a stark, clean white shoe that really punctuates a look.  Gone are the days of white shoes being associated with nurses and church-going six year olds– Celine has totally made white shoes and booties the coolest new addition to an outfit.  I’ll be wearing mine with distressed skinnies and sweaters, with boyish tees and slipdresses or a mini …and come Spring, these guys won’t be going anywhere. Shop some of my faves below.

The day after the Presidential Inauguration, Tim and I brought Nolan out for brunch and a museum day at The Whitney in the Meatpacking District.  That same day, there were protests and marches organized around the country, including in NYC, where thousands of people came together to demonstrate their concerns with Donald Trump as our new president.  I am not a person who is comfortable with conflict, negativity or the like– I’m def a people pleaser and peace keeper by nature– plus, I’m just not sure how to feel or what to think about the current political climate in our country.  Just what is real? What is for show? What worries me more than “who is in charge” is that as Americans we feel more divided than ever…but don’t we all want the same things?  Happiness, success, good health, and safety?  Even though I did not participate in a march or protest, I wore this jacket purposely that day– maybe just as a reminder to be kind to one another, and that the energy that you put out into the world is 100% the energy that you feel and receive– I choose, and always will, GOOD VIBES.  Outfit details linked above!

Blush Ruffle Sleeve sweatshirt dress: Pull & Bear (only $35!!!) | Sneakers: Adidas Originals  in Rose Gold stripe| Grey long coat: Forever 21 (old, similar versions here and here) | Bag: Proenza Schouler | Sunnies: Ray Ban

This ruffled or exaggerated sleeve is a super huge trend right now– everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame they say, so heck, why shouldn’t the lowly sleeve get some attention?!

I’ve been loving sweatshirt dresses lately, and when I came across this one, I knew that it would be super fun to style– its in a blush/pink color I rarely wear, so I liked the challenge of dressing it down and giving it a tomboy edge.  Pink, ruffly things are usually not my fave, but the fact that this dress is made out of comfy sweatshirt material (also ideal for washing  baby spit up out of!) made it seem more casual and sporty.  I dressed it down with crisp white Adidas sneaks (rose gold stripes! get them HERE, because these ones are hard to find if you’re an Adidas fan!) and a menswear inspired grey coat (which hides the sleeves, but i love the contrast in length with a short/sporty dress).  Even though it’s the middle of January, it was warm enough to go bare-legged today, for those of you who are like whaaaaatttt is this girl doing with bare legs!?!!?  I wore this look for a ramen date with Tim and Nolan (who had mashed sweet potatoes- not quite ready for ramen yet)– I plan on remixing it with olive OTK boots, white booties and fishnet tights in the near future!

Shop my exact dress, which is well under $50, through the links above!

Black Velvet T-Shirt Dress:(on sale!) Urban Outfitters | Black suede OTK Boots: also on sale for under $200! Bloomingdales | Sunnies: Saint Laurent |Motorcycle Jacket: Mango (old, similar here and here)

Happy 2017 guys! This year, like last year when I was pregnant, we stayed in at night, watching movies and snuggling.  We did a New Years Eve brunch with Nolan in Brooklyn at Colonie, followed by some shopping and day drinking– then we headed home for an evening in pjs…a perfect NYE if you ask me! The night before, I had gone out for dinner with some girlfriends (a much needed friends catch up time!), where we exchanged Secret Santa gifts and shared lots of delish food and drinks– I wore the look above for this event.  The black velvet tee shirt dress is tomboyish in shape, which I like, not too body conscious with the over the knee boots, which when paired with too many tight or feminine things, can appear a little too Julia Roberts pre-make over in Pretty Woman, if you know what I mean.  So I went with an all black look, so that the velvet would stand out, and paired it with the suede OTK boots (leaving a few inches of skin between the pieces), a black leather moto jacket for edge, and my black and gold Chanel (best investment I’ve made!).  Both the dress and boots are on sale, so shop them through the links above while sizes last!

Wishing you all a HAPPY, HEALTHY, and fashionable New Year!
