My Six-Picks: Summer Statement Booties

I don’t know about you guys, but around this time every summer, I start to get sick of wearing sandals– I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m equally as obsessed with lace-up sandals as everyone else in the world– but day after day, I start to get itchy (not physically, ew, gross…) wearing the same sandals/sneaks combos with summer looks.  Enter the SUMMER STATEMENT BOOTIE (as I’m calling them!).  Traditional black or brown leather booties can read too “fall/winter” and weigh down summer looks– but an interesting pair of textured, colored, or patterned booties can feel just right with a breezy summer dress or denim cutoffs you would normally wear sandals with– making the look seem more like an “outfit” than a basic summer throw-and-go situation.  Below, find and shop my “Six-Picks” for summer statement booties!

Off-the-Shoulder Dark Floral Midi Dress: Kimichi Blue by Urban Outfitters (also just picked up this one via the Nordstrom Sale for now until Fall!) |Lace up sandals: Schutz | Bag: Saint Laurent | Sunnies: Dior Abstracts

I got really into midi-dresses when I was pregnant with Nolan– not sure why, maybe because the bigger my bump got, the shorter my dresses became?! Anyway, I’m LOVING dark floral midi dresses lately– just scored this summery one from Urban Outfitters– and seriously, IT IS ONE OF THE BEST FITTING AND MOST FLATTERING dresses I own! Get. It. Now. I also picked up this one from the Nordstrom Sale, which I’ll wear with sandals now, and loafers or booties come fall.

Now  you guys know I’m not usually a big fan of florals, but I’m loving moody, dark almost grungy-romantic ones right now– sort of 90s, sort of bohemian… I would never wear a dress like this with any sort of pump or fancy heel– for me, a more casual vibe, maybe a cool wedge if I felt like I wanted height– is the way to go with one of these dresses.  Great for summer now, (wore this one to brunch with my bestie and our betrothed babies) this past weekend and into fall with a denim or leather jacket on top and booties or loafers or even sneaks maybe…

Shop my exact dress through the link above (this dress also comes in blue or beige) or the short sleeved wine colored one I just got, on sale at Nordstrom now…

Mix List: My Picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Guys, one of the best sales all year is upon us– the Nordstrom  Anniversary Sale, giving us the opportunity to get a head start on our fall wardrobes (there are also plenty of wearable-now, summer-ish items to shop as well!) for a lot less– prices go up when the sale ends, and some of the discounts are pretty awesome.  I’ve rounded up my fave picks, a few of which are already ordered and on their way (ahem, gold boots!!!)…
Classics-wise, now is a great time to get the Topshop genuine leather jacket, a wardrobe MUST– if you’ve always done a cheaper faux version, this sale is a great way to grab a real leather moto at a great price.  The Nixon gold watch, Kate Spade gold cuff and faux leather leggings and mini skirt are also wardrobe staples for me– I constantly wear items like these, so yearly upgrades are necessary! The floral midi dress just screams fall to me– I’ll wear it early with laceup sandals now, and with booties come fall.  The denim jumper dress can be worn now with an off the shoulder top underneath, and in the cooler months with a slim turtleneck and tights.  White sneaks are still going strong year round– I need new ones for summer, and these Stan Smiths will take me right into fall, anchoring all my almost-too-feminine looks with a boyish flair. The 3.1 Phillip Lim bag–!!– Can you believe this awesome designer classic is under $300 on sale!? Need. Bombers are still gonna be important this fall, and an olive one like the one I’ve picked below will go with everything you own.  Every girl needs at least one oversized plaid shirt in her rotation, and in my opinion, Madewell does them best–and now that Nordstrom sells Madewell, really, what are you waiting for? The Topshop lightning bolt sweater is just super fun and makes me smile, and the Adidas tank is perf for layering under a blazer come fall, or under overalls now during the warmer months.  Lastly, I chose for you guys two awesome beauty buys– a MAC brush set which includes all the basics, and a Bobbi Brown bronze eye pallet, flattering on all skin tones. So, get ready, set, shop! Enjoy my picks; use the links below to buy!

Denim Overall Dress: Tularosa Label via Asos (On sale through this link for less than anywhere else!) | Black Bodysuit: Urban Outfitters | Black and White Lace up Sandals: Rebecca Minkoff | Crossbody Satchel: Proenza Schouler PS1

I wore this look yesterday for a day in Brooklyn with my little fam; after closet cleaning, I love to sell stuff I’m not using anymore at Buffalo Exchange (locations linked here)– bags, shoes, clothing, accessories– all gently used– they’ll give you 30% cash or 50% store credit for what you bring in! Whatever they don’t take, you can donate on site, which is super convenient.  After we dropped off my closet stash, we went for rooftop ice cream (best I’ve had EVER, let alone in New York) at Ample Hills Creamery and then just walked around and explored the Cobble Hill area (while, I’m mortified to say, Tim “and Nolan” searched for Pokemon on that new weird app that I’m pretty sure is a sign that all socialization of humankind is coming to a dead end).

This Tularosa label “Sofia” overall dress is right up my alley– first off, duh, its another iteration of my fave piece of all time, OVERALLS, and second, its a right in the tomboyish, cool but still put together zone where I’m most comfortable.  I paired it here with a simple black bodysuit– have to say, if you’re a fan of overalls in any form, bodysuits, under them are the way to go because they stay completely tucked in!!! Although you’ll double want to bash your head in when you use the bathroom lol– costs and benefits….

To be honest, the Tularosa version of the overall dress is the BEST fitting, quality, and wash I have found out there– and even though the one I linked for you guys above is on sale, it’s still over $100…so I linked a few other versions I like out there at different price points! Happy shopping!
