Remember when May, June and July were THE months to have a wedding?? Does anyone else feel like the new “it” months are September, October and November?? I think people are starting to catch on to the fact that the spring months were wayyyy expensive, not to mention HOT– and every year, my husband and I find that more and more wedding invites pour in for Fall.  I wore this look to a wedding this past weekend, and it truly was one of my fave wedding looks ever.  I’ve done the LBD thing 74373738 times to weddings, as have you and everyone else– black is safe, no danger of competing with the bride– but the problem is you are literally one of the 74646399034 other girls there wearing black.  I’m OBSESSED with this slightly Asian-inspired, jacquard dress from Zara (linked below) because the material definitely says evening event, but the shape and textures are unexpected.  I decided to pair it with my gold and black striped pumps from J.Crew to add a contrast in patterns and therefore, extra interest to the look (complemented with gold accessories, of course!)  I’ve rounded up some of my fave fall appropriate wedding guest dresses out there right now, and two pairs of funky patterned pointed pumps (fall approps cocktail shoe to sharpen the look) that will pair with literally any of the dresses there–in various price ranges that you will DEF stand out in, have fun wearing, and have zero chance of provoking dagger eyes from the bride– not a little black dress in sight, so take the plunge!
Happy fall wedding season!

Long sleeved T-Shirt Dress: Topshop (sold out, similar linked below!) |Plaid Flannel: Madewell |Loafers: Forever 21 |Bag: Chanel Petite Shopping Tote |Sunnies: Saint Laurent (old)

Just a quick outfit post for you guys– I wanted to share with you one of my fave looks to take you from summer to fall, especially on those days where you wake up and need layers, but by noon you are ready to pass out from the heat (lol). A long sleeved t-shirt dress, like this one above from Topshop, is my go to piece for this weather– you can roll or push the sleeves up when it gets warm and add or remove the flannel from your waist, depending on your temp.  I like a plaid flannel with this super simple dress because it adds color, texture, and dimension to a pretty standard, plain dress.  The loafers are perf for this weather because they are not as warm or heavy as a bootie, but feel just right when you are sick and tired of wearing the same sandals you’ve sported all summer (or are taking a break from pedicures, ahem). And if you’re wondering what’s inside the Barney’s bag, check out the previous post to see what I got!

Wearing: Silk sleeveless button down: Madewell (on sale!)| Ripped cutoffs: One Teaspoon |White and rose gold sneaks: Aldo (on sale!) |Bag: Chloe (old)

2. Fave end of summer Sunday-funday idea: The Brooklyn Flea Market

unnamed345

I love this place for special jewelry finds, vintage purses, and cool home furnishings– plus, there’s the food truck situation (!!!)…for me, going mid-summer is just too hot…since it’s held in a lot on Kent in Williamsburg with literally no shade, I like to hold off going until end of summer/September– so you can really enjoy meandering around without dying of heat stroke!

3.Elma Blint #littlegoldmix:

unnamed352

This is my fave tent at the Brooklyn Flea– Elma Blint jewelry is one of my go-to spots for dainty and unique gold pieces to add to my collection– her pieces are really well-made and don’t tarnish– most pieces are gold-dipped sterling silver. Check out my Instagram to see which pieces I ended up adding to my hoard!

4. Essie Fall 2015 Collection:

unnamed351

Since I was at the Essie X Seventeen fall preview party during Fashion Week, I got a sneak peak at their new Fall collection, inspired by rock -n- roll seventies rebels…super cool metallics and deep moody shades I can’t wait to sport all season long!

5. New In: Chloe Faye

unnamed350

So remember when I was trying to decide on a new grey bag for Fall?? Well, call off the dogs, the search is over– so happy to welcome this Chloe Faye suede and leather dream to my collection! Monica at Barneys was super helpful and sweet in helping me choose her– we even had a run in with Rebecca Minkoff herself (shopping in the same section!!!)– so basically it was an AWESOME DAY! The Faye is just the right size, a true medium everyday bag– and I’m really digging how its flat, but can still hold a lot–and the shoulder strap is removable so she can also become a clutch! In love.

Super beat now; after a wedding and bridal shower this weekend, I’m ready to relax!

Happy Sunday and have a great week guys!

Ways to wear: Double Denim

For some reason, when I’m stumped on what to wear, I always find myself reaching for the good old Canadian Tux– (no offense, northern friends, we love this look!) It’s easy, comfortable, and actually more fashionable than you think– def one of my fave looks.  Here are some of my past double denim looks:

To me, the key to pairing two different denim items is NOT trying to match the shades exactly– I like a little contrast, either in level of wash, or with distressing.

I wore this double denim look this past Sunday, for a day of food truck feasting and flea market shopping in Brooklyn:

Sleeveless Chambray button down, knotted: Bella Dahl |Distressed Boyfriends: Zara |Snakeskin Loafers: ASOS |

See how the distressing on the jeans makes the perfect contrast with the uniformity of the chambray top’s coloring? I added the grey snakeskin loafers (faves of the season!) for a comfy, walkable, but fashionable forward touch, and carried my old fave quilted Marc Jacobs gold chain strap bag to add a bit of glamour to the overall look.  Voila! — my go to weekend/fave lazy outfit.

Hope you try the double denim look this weekend!
