Mix Must: Detailed White Sneaks

One trend that will carry you through these last weeks of summer straight into fall (and next spring) is the “detailed white sneaker”.  Once associated with middle aged dads on vacation, retirees in Florida and humans under the age of 5, the white low top sneaker is definitely cool again.  Pair them (obviously) with skinnies and a casual tee, sweater or graphic sweatshirt, or my favorite current way to wear them, with dresses to lend a fresh and sporty vibe that’s way less expected than sandals or heels.  Extra extra credit for wearing these sporty kicks with cool details like snakeskin, studs, metallic details, or different textures.  EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA credit for pairing them with this fall’s hottest pants shape, culottes or wide leg cropped pants.  Below, how I styled them this weekend with one of my favorite summer dresses and a denim jacket– totally different than how I wore this dress the first time, here:

White Off the Shoulder Dress: Express Runway (sold out, similar options linked below!) | Sandals: J.Crew |Clutch: Gigi New York| Earrings: Kendra Scott | Gold Cuff: J.Crew
If there was one dress that could sum up summer 2015, it would be the off -the-shoulder or “Bardot” (after Brigitte Bardot) dress, particularly in white.  These dresses offer a different type of sexy, instead of being low cut and skin tight, they are usually more bohemian, light and airy in feel and show off your shoulders, back and neck– a nice and refreshing change from Real Housewives-ish bandage dresses that have been unfortunately lingering over the past few years…
This one that I wore to a bachelorette party in Montauk this past weekend I had actually picked up months ago from Express– a store I don’t usually shop in, but I saw this one on the sale rack (!) and couldn’t believe that it fit so well and was pretty high quality for being under $50! I’ve worn it a few times this summer– with lace up heels from Zara, with my fave iridescent J.Crew sandals here, and with my snakeskin lace up Schutz flats to dinner.  Yeah, summer is almost over (sad face), but there are still a few weeks of outdoor cocktails, summer BBQs, and warm weather date nights that a little white off the shoulder number can be of use for– mine is sold out, but I’ve linked a few similar options below, in varying price ranges ❤

Mix Must-Have: The Return of the One-Piece Swimsuit

unnamed247
Island Vibes One Piece: Private Party via Revolve Clothing (linked below)| Metallic Pool Slides: Vince via Saks Off Fifth (on sale!)
unnamed248

No matter what your body type, rejoice! One-piece swimsuits are THE trendiest cut of swimwear happening this summer…and when you think about it, its really no huge surprise…with the huge 90s influence on fashion the past few seasons, isn’t it only natural that our favorite “Baywatch” bathing suit style from the 90s reached our shores?! (that’s BaYwatch with a Y– decades before “BaEwatch” became a thing …ew I feel so old but so grateful to not be a teenager currently lol).  Also, there really isn’t much more style-wise that you can do with a bikini– we’ve seen and done it all: string, triangle, halter, bandeau…it just makes sense for the fashion world to dip into something we all would have considered ew, gross, dorky or questioned whether our moms would have worn or would still wear or associate with kickflips and a 100 meter butterfly…

To be clear, the one piece suits I’m loving currently are very 90s inspired…not pinup-y or cutesy or girly really…more sporty/sexy, with high cut legs and low cut tops with a super low back…and totally flattering no matter what your body type!

This “Island Vibes” suit I have on here is from Revolve Clothing, but they are currently sold out of this style.  The designer is “Private Party”, and I linked the original suit I’m wearing plus a few other cute ones I like in the same cut from this designer as well.  The fit of these Private Party suits is ON POINT, I promise! I also chose some other one piece styles that I’m currently loving– the brand Solid and Striped is HUGE right now as well…prepare to see these simple, well made, superbly cut suits on lots of famous peeps and your friends alike (as well as all over Instagram!)

Happy one-piece shopping!

Leather and Chiffon Tank: Elizabeth and James via Saks Off Fifth (sold out, similar linked below!)| Cutoffs: One Teaspoon Bandit Shorts via Shopbop | Sandals: J. Crew |Leather Crossbody: Gucci Soho Disco | All available items linked below: 🙂

A black leather (or faux leather if that’s more your speed or style) is a must have, in my opinion, for every stylish gal’s wardrobe– it can be paired with literally ANYTHING, as it’s a neutral color and cut, but the fabric and texture really bring edge and life to an otherwise simple or boring outfit.  One of my absolute favorite things to pair a this leather tank (found at Saks Off Fifth for about $120; real leather with a chiffon underlay for an awesome hard/soft contrast!) with is distressed denim: baggy boyfriend jeans in the winter and fall, and these cutoffs in the summer (albeit, today wasn’t super hot or humid, hence why I was able to wear this top lol). I also like pairing a leather tank under a blazer for work, with a poufy or feminine skirt, with structured colored or denim culottes, or even under overalls… This exact top is sold out, and I wasn’t able to track it down for you guys anywhere, so I linked a few similar options I like below– now these aren’t the thriftiest purchases, true– most of the ones below are over $100– but this is me trying to convince you that this particular purchase is worth it and you will find yourself wearing this top with 9579453947 different outfits, I swear!
