I definitely have an on again- off again relationship with H&M— in the past, some of their pieces just haven’t fit me right and feel a little too “fast fashion” (not so good quality)— but I have to say, this fall/winter, they have been KILLING IT in the sweater department! At price points under $50, there are SO MANY good choices this season, and the quality is impeccable! See how I styled three of my current faves below:
Black sweater with tulle sleeves | black skinny jeans | Edgy square toe heels
Look 1: I love an “un-basic” black piece— sometimes wearing black, while being flattering and feeling safe, can fall a little flat style wise… enter the black statement piece! A top like this sweater, with chiffon blousy sleeves, totally makes the outfit more interesting… I paired it with my fave black Madewell jeans and these new square toe, edgy black strap heels from Zara, and my red Chanel to add an unexpected element. Look for black pieces with a extra special detail, structure or embellishment.
Camouflage embossed sweater | grey skinny jeans | white booties | white sunnies and bag: Saint Laurent
Look 2: Always a sucker for a camo print, when I saw this sweater I knew I had to have it! It’s the perfect mix of tomboyish and girly, kind of a subtle take on camo. I went for grey jeans with this look to pull from the base color of the sweater, and paired it with my fave white booties and sunnies to make the white in the sweater pop even more.
Red sweater| Red fine knit sweater in two other colors here | rust overall dress | furry Pom Pom sneakers
Look 3: Red is definitely the color of the season, and this sweater offers endless styling possibilities! I’ve already worn it with a denim skirt, with jeans, with a leather mini, and most recently, layered under this rust overall dress for a take on a color blocked mono chromatic-ish look. I love layering unexpected pieces under overalls, and the balloonish sleeves on this super soft sweater make it a great piece to put under an overall dress (any top with cool sleeves is perf to layer under a strapping dress or overalls in my opinion). Some of you guys might be nervous to pair two similar colors like this together, but I feel like it really works well when two shades of a similar color are blocked together— as long as it looks purposeful and not accidental!
Ok guys, that’s it for now— I DEF recommend swinging by H&M this season to check out their sweater selection … and hopefully use these outfits as inspiration for how to style them!
xo, ❤
