Mix Must: Grey Print T-Shirt

One of my favorite closet staples is the heathered grey t-shirt (heathered meaning the tiny specks in the grey that give it that vintage feel). I wear them with cutoffs and distressed boyfriend jeans, under a blazer with black skinnies, with lacey skirts to offset the too feminine vibe, and like shown here, with a leather mini (or leather skinnies in fall/winter). A grey tee literally goes with EVERYTHING.

But.

The key is finding the right one.  It can’t be too big and baggy, or too tight and fitted…it can’t look too athletic, or it will be mistaken for a gym piece…it has to look broken in and worn, but not like its ready for the rag bin…and guys, seriously, Suburban Riot makes this perfect, holy grail of grey t-shirts– and extra points, they say funny, tongue-in-cheek things that make you smile (I have two- my “Kale” one, and this “Happy Camper” one shown here).  Now, I happen to like a funny t-shirt every now and then; I know they’re not for everyone– a plain grey tee works the same magic (and I have a couple of those too), but I figure if your t-shirt can make you or someone else smile, why not? This Happy Camper tee, found at Nordstrom, by Suburban Riot, is the perfect slouchy yet feminine, feels like it’s been washed 55858 times, worn and soft grey– I can’t stop wearing it and I’m so happy to share it with you guys here! Mix Must: Plaid Shirtdress

Plaid Shirtdress: Rails LA via Shopbop |Sneakers: Converse| Bag: Louis Vuitton Neverfull (Medium Size)| Sunnies: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Just a quick post on this shirt dress I got recently from Shopbop– it’s by Rails LA, one of the best plaid-shirt makers out there– fit is always on point, baggy and boyfriend-y yet feminine.  When I saw this on Shopbop’s Instagram (!), I knew I had to have it…I’m always a sucker for plaid, and this dress had the exact tomboyish chic vibe I love.  I’m usually not one for lots of blue, but I’m really digging the cobalt color of this dress.  The fit is true to size (I’m wearing a small), and the length is perfect on a shortie like me!  I paired it with sneaks and blue mirrored sunnies here for a classic cool feel (cool being the operative word on this 5495 degree day in the city!). Shopbop has a few different plaid shirt dresses from Rails– I highly suggest you snag one now, as its a great transitional piece from summer to fall.  Linked below are a few other styles I like from this same designer!

2)Brooke button-down plaid shirt dress

Weekly Round-up: What’s On My (Style) Radar This Week…

1. Current favorite summer dress:

unnamed250

This light and breezy dress from Urban Outfitters is on heavy rotation this summer; luckily, I have four different versions of it (two sleeveless, two with short sleeves as seen here).  It’s only $60 and has a kind of feminine grungy vibe I’m loving right now– plus it can we worn with sneaks, sandals, or heels, and with booties and a moto jacket come Fall.  Linked here and here.

2. Finally picked up these Schutz Lace-up sandals!

unnamed251

Literally, couldn’t resist. I’ve worn them for 3 days straight, taking them off only to sleep. Pick them up here.

3. (It was a big week, shoe-wise)– ASOS Pointed Toe Loafers:

unnamed249

Pointed toe loafers are going to continue to be huge for Fall, and I couldn’t be happier.  I’ve never been a huge fan of ballet flats– too feminine and cutesy for me, personally (although I do love how they look on some girls)– so in the flat/comfy shoes department, I rely on classic sneaks like Converse, or a sharp, masculine but funky pointed toe loafer for when I don’t feel like or can’t wear heels.  These Celine loafers are THE DREAM, but since I’m not ready to shell out that kinda cash at this point, these two pairs from European online fashion retailer ASOS will do the trick perfectly…shop both, under $100 here and here.

4. A Fashionable Heritage:

unnamed253

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is running the China Through the Looking Glass exhibit in the city through September 7th, showcasing “the impact of Chinese aesthetics on Western fashion”.  Since I’m a proud fashion-loving halfie (half Chinese, half Caucasian) <3, I can’t wait to see gorgeous creations like this Jean Paul Gaultier above, live and in person. Link for more information on the exhibit here.

5. The BEST summer soup in the city:

unnamed252

Tim and I went to Cookshop in Chelsea last weekend and has the most AMAZING chilled yellow tomato, jalapeno and cucumber soup…and the cheddar cornbread on the side only added to the deliciousness.  I am a huge fan of tomato soup in general (lol at that sentence!), and this cool summer iteration could not be any more perfect for a warm sidewalk summer brunch.

Mix Must-Have: The Return of the One-Piece Swimsuit

unnamed247
Island Vibes One Piece: Private Party via Revolve Clothing (linked below)| Metallic Pool Slides: Vince via Saks Off Fifth (on sale!)
unnamed248

No matter what your body type, rejoice! One-piece swimsuits are THE trendiest cut of swimwear happening this summer…and when you think about it, its really no huge surprise…with the huge 90s influence on fashion the past few seasons, isn’t it only natural that our favorite “Baywatch” bathing suit style from the 90s reached our shores?! (that’s BaYwatch with a Y– decades before “BaEwatch” became a thing …ew I feel so old but so grateful to not be a teenager currently lol).  Also, there really isn’t much more style-wise that you can do with a bikini– we’ve seen and done it all: string, triangle, halter, bandeau…it just makes sense for the fashion world to dip into something we all would have considered ew, gross, dorky or questioned whether our moms would have worn or would still wear or associate with kickflips and a 100 meter butterfly…

To be clear, the one piece suits I’m loving currently are very 90s inspired…not pinup-y or cutesy or girly really…more sporty/sexy, with high cut legs and low cut tops with a super low back…and totally flattering no matter what your body type!

This “Island Vibes” suit I have on here is from Revolve Clothing, but they are currently sold out of this style.  The designer is “Private Party”, and I linked the original suit I’m wearing plus a few other cute ones I like in the same cut from this designer as well.  The fit of these Private Party suits is ON POINT, I promise! I also chose some other one piece styles that I’m currently loving– the brand Solid and Striped is HUGE right now as well…prepare to see these simple, well made, superbly cut suits on lots of famous peeps and your friends alike (as well as all over Instagram!)

Happy one-piece shopping!
