Leather and Chiffon Tank: Elizabeth and James via Saks Off Fifth (sold out, similar linked below!)| Cutoffs: One Teaspoon Bandit Shorts via Shopbop | Sandals: J. Crew |Leather Crossbody: Gucci Soho Disco | All available items linked below: 🙂

A black leather (or faux leather if that’s more your speed or style) is a must have, in my opinion, for every stylish gal’s wardrobe– it can be paired with literally ANYTHING, as it’s a neutral color and cut, but the fabric and texture really bring edge and life to an otherwise simple or boring outfit.  One of my absolute favorite things to pair a this leather tank (found at Saks Off Fifth for about $120; real leather with a chiffon underlay for an awesome hard/soft contrast!) with is distressed denim: baggy boyfriend jeans in the winter and fall, and these cutoffs in the summer (albeit, today wasn’t super hot or humid, hence why I was able to wear this top lol). I also like pairing a leather tank under a blazer for work, with a poufy or feminine skirt, with structured colored or denim culottes, or even under overalls… This exact top is sold out, and I wasn’t able to track it down for you guys anywhere, so I linked a few similar options I like below– now these aren’t the thriftiest purchases, true– most of the ones below are over $100– but this is me trying to convince you that this particular purchase is worth it and you will find yourself wearing this top with 9579453947 different outfits, I swear!

Grey mock neck tank: Urban Outfitters|White distressed denim cutoffs: One Teaspoon via Shopbop | White Converse via Shopbop | Plaid Flannel: Madewell (sold out)| Tortoise Aviators: Wildfox Couture | Bag: Loeffler Randall (exact one sold out, similar here)

I wore this 90s inspired look to the Great South Bay Music Festival on Long Island this weekend…we went to see The MightyMightyBossTones and 311 (commence flashbacks!) …so this outfit was a natural fit & gave a nod to the grungy era as well! I didn’t want to go typical festival- flower-crown-boho-fringe (although you guys know I LOVE my fringe!) this time, so I paired these One Teaspoon white baggy cutoffs, (perfectly distressed, not too tight, most flattering cut ever!!!) with this mock turtleneck tank from Urban Outfitters (who thought mock turtlenecks would ever make fashion blog status!?! Well, guys…prepare yourselves, because you’re going to be seeing A LOT of this 90s cut EVERYWHERE!!!)…The flannel gave the look an extra grungy touch (and kept me warm once the sun went down–and until then, stayed “perfectly tied around my waist” as my husband lovingly described <3)…and white Converse kept it sporty and classic.  Click the links above to shop this whole look!

Trend Mix Success: Culotteralls/Overlottes? I’m in LOVE Either way…

You know how sometimes two trends in one can be a serious recipe for a fashion disaster?! Heck, more than sometimes– ALMOST ALWAYS, wearing multiple trends or “statements” at the same time is so NOT GOOD.

HOWEVER.

These overall/culottes from H&M came my way.

Overalls, if you’ve been reading my blog (!) and have eyes and have gone shopping at least once this season, you know that grown up iterations of the Osh Kosh B’Gosh stand bys have made a major resurgence on the fashion scene– and I could not be more obsessed, as they play to my tomboy/fashion-forward/quirky sense of style perfectly.  Another trend, though not quite as ubiquitous, is culottes.  Culottes, for those of you who aren’t sure if I’m talking about some new blended drink at Starbucks, are wide leg, usually flowy, ankle length pants.  They came around (in kind of a gross way) in the early 2000’s — a lot of elastic waisted versions abounded in every teen-ish store in the mall.  This time around, though, culottes are a lot chicer, more taylored, sophisticated, and have more of a 70’s spin on them.

Ok, so back to this fashion hybrid– these “culloteralls” or “overlottes”– not sure which I like better…

I love them! These were only $50 from H&M (unfortunately they sold out online– but I linked a few similar options here, here, and here for you guys!), and are a silky, flowy, navy blue printed fabric– I wore this look to dinner with friends a few nights ago, dressing them up with neutral heels from Zara and a blush silk blouse.  In this case, the dreaded fashion trend blend was a success!

Hope this inspires you guys to take a fashion risk this week…<3

Weekly Round-up: Beach/City Stay-Cation

As summer is in full swing, here’s what’s on my radar/making me smile this week:

1. Car-Camping on the Beach:

unnamed219

Now I’m not a huge fan of traditional camping, but when my husband suggested this awesome car-camping on the beach spot, I was super excited– we’re definitely huge beach people; plus, beach “camping” means no bugs, animals or getting lost in the woods! This spot on the very beginning of Fire Island called Democrat’s Point could not have been more perfect ❤

2. Outdoor Movie Night in NYC:

unnamed220

Every summer, NYC hosts a ton of outdoor movie nights– and the HBO Summer Series in Bryant Park is the biggest and best in my opinion.  Here we are setting up our picnic spot for the movie The Poseidon Adventure..link to schedule here!

3. Dreamy night at the Downtown Dream:

unnamed217

One of my fave hotels in the city, the Dream downtown is both luxurious, fashionable and funky…love the over-sized porthole views of the city! On Sundays, lay out by their “Beach” pool area after grabbing brunch at Bodega Negra downstairs.

4. Quiet street in South Street Seaport:

unnamed216

We Citi-biked it all the way downtown to the tip of Manhattan’s South Street Seaport and found this quiet spot– perfect for eating ice cream and listening to live music on a steamy summer city night.

5. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale:

unnamed227

Around this time every year, one of our fave department stores, customer service QUEEN Nordstrom, hosts its yearly Anniversary sale, offering us fall designer goods at huge discounts before they go on sale at regular price… If you’ve never shopped this one before, now is the time! Link here! ** Follow me on Instagram @thelittlegoldmix to enter my giveaway for a $650 Giftcard to Nordstrom to start your shopping!**

Have a great week guys ❤
