So I actually picked these black overalls up from H&M months ago, and I just never got a chance to shoot them for a post…yesterday, I wore this outfit to a friend’s house party, and even though this is the first official weekend of summer (!), it was cool and rainy in New York yesterday, so I busted out my favorite overalls outfit one last time before the oppressive heat of summer begins!
Whenever I wear my overalls, people always say to me “They look so cute on you, but I could never pull them off “– and my answer is always OF COURSE YOU CAN!!! Seriously though. Overalls are not just for kids or painters (although whenever I do wear them, male coworkers, friends, and even my husband make an inevitable “how much do you charge to paint a house?” joke…).  They are for me, and they certainly are for you too! If you are new to the overalls game, I suggest a black pair like these, because they do feel a little more “grown up” and sophisticated (lol that “sophisticated” is in the same sentence as “overalls).  I’ve worn these black ones with this striped tee and Converse many times, but I’ve also worn these with heels to dinner, black and white loafers to work; and I’m already imagining wearing them in the fall with thin sweaters underneath…
This exact pair from H&M is sold out, but below you’ll find three pairs I also like, along with the exact items I’m wearing above.

New to the Mix: Transitional Sweatshirt Dress

Hey guys! Happy Spring Break! One of the perks of being a teacher is that you still get a “Spring Break” — sorry corporate/office/cubicle-confined friends!
Just a quick post today– I found this awesome henley-style sweater dress at Nordstrom’s Topshop section this week, and wanted to share it with you guys as the PERFECT transitional basic that can actually be worn year-round…in the winter with tights and booties, in the fall with a leather jacket and now, in the cooler part of spring, as I have it styled here– with my go-to Converse and my fave denim jacket.  I wore this look today for running around NYC today…al fresco salad in the park, shopping at Zara and H&M (scored the black overalls of my dreams!!! post to come soon!), and happy hour drinks with Tim.  Shop my EXACT look below (except for the Loeffler Randall bag– that was sold out, so I linked to a very similar option, on sale!)

Update the Mix: Mirrored Sunglasses

about
Hi guys– happy Sunday! Since it’s FINALLY spring (ish), and the sun is shining (ish), I figured that lots of us are already breaking out the sunglasses– and looking to update our collections of sunnies.  Look no further than mirrored sunglasses if you want to try something new this spring/summer– I promise, these guys will make everything feel super current and new.  The reflective nature of these sunglasses can be a little jarring at first– like many fashion risks that feel uncomfortable at first– but once you get used to them, you will LOVE how they bring color and metallic shine to your looks.  I can’t wear my Wildfox Couture sunnies pictured above without smiling.  In my Spring Trends post, I promised shopping guides for each of my spring fashion “must haves”…below you’ll find my favorite mirrored sunglasses on the market currently, for all price points, starting at $60!
Cheers to sunny days ahead!

Christine
