One of the building blocks of my closet is a thin grey slightly baggy t-shirt— either plain or with a funny or quirky saying on it. I wear them to contrast with a leather or lace skirt, layer them under overalls or with a sharp blazer and jeans, or keep it simple with denim cutoffs– a grey tee shirt (with the right fit of course, not talking your old college XL tee) is def one of the pieces in my closet that I build lots of looks around. This “Super” tee, by Julie Sarinana of the blog Sincerely Jules, is one of my faves because of the perfectly boyish but femme fit, and the fact that it’s thin, so it works perfectly for the half tuck situation. I paired it here with a crochet-lace skirt from Topshop and gold sneaks, and topped it off with a layered chain necklace to keep with the girly tomboy vibe. Shop this exact tee here, along with a few of my other fave grey t-shirts here, here and here!

So one of my favorite looks for summer, besides off the shoulder EVERYTHING and dark florals, has been bold striped pieces– I think the bigger or bolder or more interesting the stripes, the better…and this is one trend that will continue to be HUGE for Fall/Winter. These two looks, both via ASOS, are relatively inexpensive pieces that would be perfect for those end-of-summer-excited-for-fall-but-its-still-84848740 degrees outside events…

Cotton Linen white and yellow striped dress: I Love Friday via ASOS
I wore this look while in Southern California with the fam last week– it worked for brunch in the morning, to the beach, and out for dinner and drinks at the end of the day– super versatile and casual, but still makes an impact because of the ruffle detail at the top and the bold, summery stripes! At well under $100, this is a perfect little end of summer pick me up!

Ruffled Off-the-Shoulder Romper: ASOS
We did fancy Mexican for dinner one night in San Diego, and was this romper not MADE for this very occasion?! I mean, it practically screams summer fiesta! I’m not usually one for lots of colors, but I really love the tones of the stripes on this one– really unique and super flattering and easy to wear-– I paired it with lace up heels here, but it would work really well with flat ones too!
Shop both these summer striped looks through the links above– I know you guys need ideas for those end of summer BBQs and parties!
