Quick Friday post for you guys, in case you have some fun plans this weekend and need an outfit idea! One of my favorite new combos for Fall is a turtleneck sweater paired with a 70s A-line mini (preferably in a fun texture, material or print) and anchored by pointed toe ankle booties. Add a flat, structured, medium sized bag with a long strap, and this look can literally take you anywhere– I’ll wear it to work, to parties, for dinner and drinks…it can be interpreted as casual or dressy as you make it. I love that it’s a fresh take on a skirt-top-and-boots combination; and one that we haven’t seen a whole lot of yet– and I bet you guys already have at least two of the four required pieces in your closets! I wore a similar look (but with lace up sandals) to a bridal shower last weekend:

Coincidentally, last week was the fourth of July, and I’ve apparently been (unintentionally) wearing a lot of red/white/& blue this week…Here’s a little round-up of what I wore this past week, for the first week of summer adventures, with links to buy:
Red dress: Urban Outfitters | Metallic sandals: J.Crew (on sale!)|Aviators: Ray-Ban
White lace crochet dress: Zara (on sale in stores…may be a few left! similar one I like here)|Wood platforms: Chloe (old)|Clutch: Gigi New York
Overalls: Madewell (literally, the BEST fitting ones I’ve found!)|Black tank: Madewell |Metallic sandals: J.Crew|Shades: Wildfox

Gingham Plaid Shirt dress: Rails LA via Shopbop|Sandals: Zara (old)|Clutch: Loeffler Randall (sold out, similar here)|Shades: Marc by Marc Jacobs
So those are my patriotic, July 4th week-outfits that took me from brunching and biking around NYC, to BBQs, picnics on the beach and a movie dinner date…Happy shopping!
Even though its only been in the 60s this past week (in New York at least), school is winding down (only three more weeks, fellow teachers!), and it’ll be summer before we know it! I always say that during the summertime is when I feel most like myself– in terms of being carefree, like a kid again, happy to run around in cut-offs and sandals. And in order to prepare for the ease of the next few months, I’ve rounded up some of the items on my personal summer style wishlist– some, like the metallic J.Crew sandals and One Teaspoon cut-offs (by far, the BEST DENIM SHORTS EVER!!!!!) are pillars of my hot weather wardrobe, and have proven themselves worthy of repeat buys this time every year! There’s kind of a blue, white and gold theme going on here, which only became apparent and intentional when I was three quarters of the way done selecting these items for you…again, the denim-on-more-than-just-jeans trend continues from spring, with a heavy 70s influence, and white is pretty much synonymous with summertime and Popsicle stains, right? Gold is just, well…is there literally anything better than shiny gold on sunned skin on a night out with a drink in your hand and a warm breeze in the air?! No, there isn’t.
