My Six Picks: White Booties

I just picked up this pair of crisp white booties from the Zara sale, and while sadly, they’re sold out, I’ve compiled six of the best pairs of white booties out there right now, in varying price ranges.  White booties are simple, yet statement making– there’s something about a stark, clean white shoe that really punctuates a look.  Gone are the days of white shoes being associated with nurses and church-going six year olds– Celine has totally made white shoes and booties the coolest new addition to an outfit.  I’ll be wearing mine with distressed skinnies and sweaters, with boyish tees and slipdresses or a mini …and come Spring, these guys won’t be going anywhere. Wishlist: My Rose Gold Gift Guide

Obviously, I LOVE and adore fresh flowers, especially pink or white roses– but let’s face it, they only last a week or so.  ROSE GOLD, on the other hand, is one type of rose that will never die! You guys are familiar with my penchant for all things with the midas touch by now, so I figured I’d put together a gift guide/wishlist with a sweet little twist on my favorite metallic- just in time for Valentine’s Day.  Hint, hint…any of the ROSY items below would make a perfect accomplice to a bunch of fresh (albeit fleeting) roses on the 14th ❤

Runway Remix

Varsity Jacket & Skirt

3.1 Phillip Lim Runway, Spring ’13

Victoria Beckham Runway, Spring ’14

Fendi, Resort ’15

Rebecca Minkoff Runway, Fall ’14

The “varsity” jacket, sometimes called the “bomber” jacket also, has been coming down runways for a few seasons now.  They are pretty much EVERYWHERE, which usually makes me NOT want to wear something, but in this case, I pulled from some old runway inspiration (my favorite varsity jacket looks above) and challenged myself to find a way to wear mine in a way that was different, and me.  Also, come mid-winter, my everyday jeans-booties-sweater routine is starting to feel like a rut…

Grey varsity jacket: JCrew (sold out, but similar ones here)| Black crepe flared skirt: JCrew | Grey linen T-shirt: Madewell | Black leather booties: Vince |Gold chain choker: Baublebar | Gold chain and black leather bracelet: Zara (sold out)

I like the idea of pairing one of these jackets (which are a nice change up from a blazer or denim jacket) with a skirt; the contrast in sportiness and femininity appeals to me.  Gold chains and black booties, instead of dainty or romantic jewelry and a more feminine heel, feel right for me with this look, to keep it from reading too “school girl”– they add a toughness that the outfit needs.
